-STORY
"I will play for my father this time."
Scott Kirchner commented about upcoming SUPER DARTS.
The event will be particularly important this time for the defending champion of SUPER DARTS.
For his late father
Kirchner has been playing mainly in THE WORLD.
He competed at STAGE 1 only for the 2014 season.
“It was difficult to be there as my father was ill. I wanted to spend more time with him.
He passed away in Sep.”
Kirchner returned to THE WORLD from STAGE 5 in Las Vegas.
He said “It was so hard. I had a great relationship with my father.”
Kirchner’s father gave him an opportunity to start playing darts.
When he was a child, his father took him to play a match.
“At that night, I won 2 times out of 6 matches although I had never played darts.
Next day, we bought a dartboard. Since then, I have been practicing 4 to 6 hours a day every day.“
Kirchner talks about the precious memory of his father.
“It has been a very tough year. But my father wanted me to be a better player. So I need to win at the tournament.”
As a defending champion
Kirchner’s advantage is stable darts. The veteran does not have many ups and downs in his performances.
Many players experience pressures from big stages such as SUPER DARTS.
Kirchner is not an exception but he knows how to handle those pressures.
“My advantage is mental toughness.
Grasp the situation calmly and convince myself, ‘I have been playing for 25 years. I know how.’.”
What do you get after beating the pressures and rivals?
“I felt wonderful when I became the top defeating world’s toughest players in the grand tournament.
It changed my perspective. It is one of the most exciting moments in my life.
To maintain high level performance, I keep giving myself opportunities to compete.
It is necessary to do that for victories. As I said last year, I can make the opportunities and I believe I can do so.“
