-STORY
“I love darts.” I hear it many times from many players.
However, when it comes from Sho Katsumi, it sounds very convincing.
Each game is precious
Katsumi practices 5 to 6 hours per day all year round.
He is repeating that for years.
“To be precise, I reduce my practice to half one day before and after matches. Besides that I don’t take any day off from my practice.“
The Japanese player is very serious and diligent. He could have said just “Everyday”.
Katsumi continues “It is always difficult for me to respond when people ask me “What is your hobby?”. I don’t have anything else but darts.
I spend long hours for darts. As playing darts is very fun for me, it can be both my profession and hobby.”
Some players may practice for the same number of hours with Katsumi.
However, few is like Katsumi who takes on darts for both “hobby” and “life”.
His dedication and commitment to darts may be the elements of his strength.
In all interviews, Katsumi uses one phrase,” Each game is precious”.
Then, he goes on with his comments that show his earnestness.
Play my every day darts
SUPER DARTS is as important as regular matches to Katsumi.
It doesn’t mean he takes SUPER DARTS lightly. Every match in front of him is equally important for Katsumi.
“I believe if I keep my concentration and focusing on one match at a time, the best outcome will be there.
Strategies? None. Honestly speaking, I would rather play my way regardless of who the opponent is.
I won’t be overworked as I don’t increase my practice hours just for SUPER DARTS.
It is important to play my every day darts as usual.”
He again used the words “each game”.
"It is repetitive but honestly each game is precious to me.
My excitement will last till SUPER DARTS, but once the stage opens I will be my usual self to get the best result as the matches will be very tough and severe.“
