-STORY
Dominating THE WORLD 2012 STAGE 2, this player has recently defeated Boris Krcmar in 2016 to win THE WORLD PREMIUM STAGE. Ono Keita has proven his ability as a skilled darts player to the world. As a well established player, we can expect an exciting performance from him this time as well.
Overwhelming willpower overcomes pressure.
“This is a stage that I have always wanted to stand on since I had started playing darts. SUPER DARTS Champion is a title that all darts players would like to have. Currently, this invitational tournament is one of Japan’s most noticed darts tournament, which is why I would like to win this tournament.”
Ono finally has the chance to play on the SUPER DARTS stage. You may think that he may feel enormous pressure as this is his first appearance but his comments shows us otherwise.
“To be able to stand on a stage where 16 players from all around the world are selected to play for the title in front of grand audience makes me excited. It would feel amazing to win on that stage.”
Even though he is faced with immense pressure, he does not show it. The strength of his perseverance is how he overcomes this pressure.
Never give up.
Ono, who has participated in several world tournaments, analyzes the strengths of the top world players.
“I think the top players have extremely stable play and are mentally strong. The top players shoot consistently and accurately as they would usually and are able to make decisive plays when the time calls for it. As a result, they are able to put pressure on their opponent and cause them to make mistakes. I think these are the strengths of top darts players.”
“I never give up and will not lose to anyone but myself. Regardless of how many points I am losing by, it is important to play my match envisioning how I can turn around the current game situation. While it is inevitable that all my plays will make it, I play thinking about if my last dart will make it in. No one knows what will happen until the opponent throws his last dart. Until the deciding moment of the winner, I play envisioning myself winning. That is my never giving up strategy!”
