-STORY
Because Masumi Chino won first place in the last SUPER DARTS Fan Poll, he decided to participate in the tournament. He won as champion in the 2016 PDC Challenge Tournament, the highest ranked PDC stage. Audiences cheered enthusiastically! He is not only a great soft-tip darts player, but a good guy who is making his name in the world of steel-tip darts.
He learned some lessons about victory at SUPER DARTS 2015.
He was invited to participate in SUPER DARTS 2015 and was expected to play as one of Japan’s top players, but was eliminated in his first game, which was against Adrian Gray. “The memory of being able to play only one game is frustrating and regrettable or me. Because of that experience, I’d like to play like myself and without any regrets this time,” Chino says looking back on his previous experience. He dreams to play on the stage and desires to compete again as he calmly reminisces. “I think that SUPER DARTS is a very special stage. Because of this, I am afraid that I will have too much spinning emotions in the game. This time, I am going to try to relax as much as possible and play how I normally play.”
He would like to meet his fan’s expectations.
“First, thank you very much for so many votes. I was very surprised that I placed first. I also feel once again the magnitude of your expectations,” he said. Would it be correct to assume that with this kind of expectation, he feels pressure? “In addition to being very happy about the results of the poll, I would like to give back to my fans by playing very well. I do not feel too much pressure, but I do feel that I have a clearer vision of my position and what I should do. No matter what the situation is, I will do my best to calmly focus on my dart skills. I hope my performance can live up to everyone’s expectations of me.”
It seems as if we have acheived growth with the result of the fan poll. We are looking forward to seeing how far he will make it this time.
