2007
Start of SUPER DARTS
SUPER DARTS was created based on the concept of "Darts as a spectator sport." It started as the final stage of DARTSLIVE JAPAN TOURNAMENT '06-07.
Only 16 winners out of 20,000 JAPAN TOURNAMENT ‘06-07 participants from approx. 1000 shops across Japan advanced to its final stage, “SUPER DARTS."
This intense competition among Japan's top players was a much talked about event in Japan's darts world.
2009
Emergence of Charismatic Players
The 3rd SUPER DARTS was the decisive event where Japan's top darts player was determined.
The top 8 from the nation's 1,300 plus shops competed in the tournament. Japan's darts fans are really fascinated by this event. Mitsumasa Hoshino won the competition. He is the only player having won SUPER DARTS twice, in 2008 and again in 2010. Hoshino gained recognition for his two SUPER DARTS victories, his charisma and overwhelming strength.
He was widely covered in various media outlets. Thus, Hoshino has become one of the first most popular darts players.
2013
Tournament Determines World's Top Player
SUPER DARTS expanded from a national tournament in Japan to a global tournament taking place for the first time in Hong Kong.
Participants from various regions including the US, Europe, and other Asian countries, gathered to determine the world's top darts player. It made the news when Mark Webster and Colin Lloyd, the leading darts players of PDC, UK's top steel tip darts tournament, participated in SUPER DARTS.
2018
Female player competed for the first time in SUPER DARTS
Mikuru Suzuki played in SUPER DARTS 2018 as its first female participant. She defeated top male players in THE WORLD, a Pro Tour.
Although she was defeated in the first round in SUPER DARTS 2018, Suzuki made a name for herself as the first female participant in the SUPER DARTS history. In 2018, she was already recognized in Japan as one of the strongest female players, but her victory in BOD Lakeside in UK in 2019 increased her recognition.
She was covered in various media outlets as the first Asian champion in the tournament. This historic achievement made her known as one of the strongest female darts players in the world.
2018
Japanese Player Crowned After Having Defeated “The World's Strongest”, Phil Taylor.
SUPER DARTS 2018 invited Phil Taylor, the "Living legend of steel-tip darts", and the "Strongest man in darts history".
Tickets sold out within minutes due to his popularity. Fans were so thrilled to see Taylor on the stage.
The crowd cheered with excitement. Haruki Muramatsu defeated Taylor in the close final match. “My dream was to defeat Phil Tylor,” the Japanese player commented with joy. Japanese darts fans were overjoyed that a player representing their country had defeated the strongest steel tip darts player.
